About Multiworld

As an effort to bring readers and Multiworld closer together, and as a tribute to the founding of Multiworld one year ago, we will publish as a series in several issues our editors' words, photographs, caligraphy, favorite places, animals, and anything else the editors would like to share about themselves.

When Multiworld began its journey one year ago, we all hoped that this Web magazine would become an Internet channel that brings many friends together who are interested in diverse cultures and love the beauty of nature. It has indeed attracted remarkable attention from people around the world since then. Some of them have shared their experiences with the rest of us through this Web magazine, making the creating of the magazine more enjoyable, and some even have become very active Multiworld editors. Although many of us have never met each other, I feel that we have been friends for a long time. I always hope more people of different cultural backgrounds will join us.

Let me take this opportunity to share two pictures with you. They were taken in the summer of 1990 on Ponape, the capital island of the Federated States of Micronesia and located in the equatorial region of the south Pacific. One picture captures a scene of "Culture Show" in a small village. The other image shows a scenery on the island. A small hut in this scenery is supported by a few poles rooted about 10 meters downhill. I spent a few dawns and dusks there, watching sunrise and sunset painting the ocean and sky with fantastic colors. It is also a nice place for one to enjoy breeze from the sea during evening, if he or she is not bothered by mosquitos.

This is a photo of me taken in 1994. I am a senior citizen. The first computer I worked on was the first production computer ever sold by IBM. And I was there when CUNY created BITNET and DoD/NSF started ARPAnet; both of which are forrunners of today's Internet. My globe-trotting days are long over. Nowadays I just read MultiWorld, and work on my webpage.

If you are interested in the Chinese culture and classics, visit my webpage China the Beautiful.

My Motto (translated)

Now I am in my seventh decade...
Looking toward the eighth.

There are many days yet to come.

Under a crop of white hair...
I shall study and read.

Grow old -- grow stronger!

I am from a small village in Fujian province, mainland China. Mountains, rivers, bamboo trees, orchards, water buffalos, frogs, and chickens made up my childhood scenery. Being raised in the countryside was a privilege I didn't realize until two years ago, when I returned to the village to capture some childhood memories with the camera. The photo to the right, taken at sunset, is probably a familiar picture for those of you from the countryside.

I believe people can communicate no matter where they are from, be it the countryside, the city, the East, or the West. More communication will bring better understanding and better understanding makes the world a more pleasant place to live. Among all the electronic magazines, Multiworld is my favorite because it is a perfect place for people to communicate and share their cultural experiences. Multiworld also demonstrates how much a group of devoted volunteers can achieve. Let's wish it more success in the years to come.

The painting to the right is by my favorite painter, Vincent Van Gogh.

PY Animation Hello friends, nice to meet you online! I am just an average down-to-earth kind of guy who happens to be very interested in multimedia. Multiworld has allowed me to meet many interesting people, including its editors and contributors. Many of them are only known via the faceless Internet, and honestly speaking it's a kind of strange and weird feeling to see some of their faces now. :))))

In addition to my hometown back in Fujian, China, Yosemite is the other favorite place of mine, both of which are featured in my first major motion picture production on the left. :)) Come to think of it, Gilligan's Island is also one of my favorite places, or at least it's one of my favorite old TV shows along with I Love Lucy.

Anyway, if you are interested in multimedia, drop me a line as I'd like to meet new friends who are also using products from Adobe, Apple, Macromedia, and Specular etc. to do interesting work.

Tip: Want to see the animation again? Instead of hitting reload button in Netscape, go to another page and then come back.

Sun By-stander --> Contributor --> Editor. This is my path of getting to become a member of the Multiworld team. Besides being attracted by the subject matters (Yeah, nature, adventure, people, culture ... no politics!) of Multiworld and its multimedia features, I continue to be amazed and motivated by the devotion of the Multiworld team of volunteers (Yes, there is no pay!), and by the high quality of their work. Well, saying this now would not be very objective, but you get the point. :)

I believe that a good picture is worth of a thousand words. So spend more time looking at the pretty and refreshing pictures in Multiworld articles. Oh, certainly, please do read the stories! :)

MultiWorld is not just a Webzine. It's a new world where everything is connected to everything: words, images and sounds; readers, authors and editors. That's why ~{4sG'J@=g~}is inseparable under my brush:-)
