Over the years Jean has taken the loyal readers of her weekly newspaper
columns "Indiana Roadsides" and "A Country Mile" over the hills and hollows
of her rural Indiana farm and shared with them her down home family recipes.
Together they wade in spring-fed creeks, see marshes filled with flowers and
skies full of birds, and find places where the only lights to fill the night
sky are those of the moon and stars, and where the only sounds are those of
the "wildlings" -- the whip-poor-wills, the big owls, the coyotes,
and the wind.
